I used to believe I was well-rounded on a wide range of topics, yet my involvement at FIU taught me more than I had originally anticipated. During my freshman year, I solely focused on getting the best grades I could possibly get. I thought something must be sacrificed to perform well in my classes and there was no way I could juggle extracurriculars too. However, I quickly realized many manage to balance both, therefore why could I not be one of those people.
I set the expectation to meet different people and become an active student on campus. I wanted to conclude my hard work was all worth it looking back on my time as a student. I hoped to be challenged in a manner that forced me to explore beyond my comfort zone. Reflecting on my past accomplishments, I can proudly say I surpassed the bar I had propped for myself. All my classes, activities, involvements, and programs shaped me into the well-rounded global citizen I am today. It has set the foundation I need to continue working on myself and contribute to my community.

I learned to see the world from other lenses, thus I now picture this feasible, interconnected, and promising place. Seeing as I have changed my overall outlook, I now feel somewhat ready to take the world by storm. I aspire to fulfill my hunger for traveling to new places, learning different cultures, practicing other languages, giving back to the needy, trying unfamiliar hobbies, and finding comfort in spontaneity. I plan to carry on working in the field of biology or medicine post-graduation, but sometimes I can't help feeling anxious thinking about entering the real world on my own. At the moment, I am unsure of what lies ahead for me, nonetheless I hope to get accepted into a medical school in the near future to pursue my dream of being a doctor.
